{On Running} Don't Call it a Come Back

Last night, I ran.

It's been almost 3 months to the day since my last run and yesterday morning, PT cleared me to run.

It was hard. It was slow.

In hindsight, I probably should have waited until today to run because PT kicked my butt yesterday morning, but I was just way too excited.

So, when I got home from work, I got dresses, laced up my sneakers and headed out for 22 minutes of slow running.

When I finished, my legs were so unbelievably sore. I felt like I had just finished a 10 mile race. Post-run, I stretched, foam rolled and iced and called it a night.

This morning, I feel fine. My right knee (the less injured one) is a little bit sore, but I blame the fact that I only iced my left knee so lesson learned.

Today, I'm taking a total rest day before I head out again tomorrow for another 20-25 minutes, which right now, is all I'm cleared for.

My PT says I should be fine to train for Cherry Blossom and the Nike Women's Half. I'm a little more than 8 weeks out from Nike so I'm optimistic about being able to train smartly for it.

Right now though, I'm just taking it one day at a time.

  1. YAY :-D Great news. Any run is better than none at all, and I have no doubt that you will run those races with flying colors!

  2. Oh man, it is so good to run when you haven't been able to. Good luck with it.

  3. Woohoo! Welcome back. My fiance and I just signed up for a 10K in three weeks, so we're doing an abbreviated training plan starting yesterday. It was only 3.5 miles, but he was so sore today. We skipped the second day of training already - whoops!
