This Weekend...at Home

This weekend was the first weekend since September that I was home and had both weekend days off.

It was glorious.

This is the first time in months that I've woken up on a Monday morning and not felt like I needed an extra day in the weekend.

Friday after work, The Pilot and I headed back out to Blue Jacket to meet up with some friends. Katie, formerly of Date Me DC, joined us and it was a great night filled with lots of laughs and great beer.

Saturday I slept until 9:30...the latest I've slept in in months. It was wonderful. I got up, made a quick breakfast, took Peyton for a walk and headed out to Logan Circle to meet up with Logan for a spin class at Zengo Cycle.

It was the best spin class I've ever taken. Christy, our instructor, started off the class by asking how many of us were hungover. A realist...I dig it. The class was super high energy and definitely a challenge. I've struggled with spin classes in the past where I've felt like I was just moving my legs, rather than actually getting a workout. This class was the furthest thing from that. It was a serious workout and I was pleasantly sore the next day. Bonus: My aching knee felt immensely better after the class. I'd love to ride again at Zengo but the $105 price tag for a 5 class package is a deterrent (compared with $80 at Revolve). The proximity to my office though might make it worth it. We'll see.

This weekend, for the first time in months, I didn't make a to-do list. So, after spin, The Pilot and I sat down together and noshed on Sweetgreen salads. He then took a nap and I sat on the couch watching the ABC Family Harry Potter Marathon and doing a crossword puzzle.

I had plans for Andrea and her boyfriend to come over on Sunday, so I aimed started cooking the beer bread I was planning to make. I may or may not have set my oven on fire and had to call the fire department while preheating my oven. Oops.

I spent the rest of my Saturday doing a major overhaul of our hall closet and it looks great now! I don't have before/after pictures because it was embarrassing but let's just say that it had been quite awhile since I had seen the floor of our hall closet.

Complete with The Pilot's new bike!
After finishing up with the closet, The Pilot and I curled up on the couch to watch last week's episode of Downton Abbey before calling it a night.

Sunday morning, we got up and headed to church. I decided to skip my planned workout due to a) no yoga classes that conveniently fitted into my planned day and b) being sore from spin! We headed to the grocery store after Mass and then got to cooking/cleaning/prepping for our guests!

This was the first time we've actually entertained since moving to DC and it was perfect! I definitely want to do that again...hopefully next time without the oven fire to ruin my planned menu? I made a buffalo chicken dip and some vegetarian chili that both turned out fantastic!{Recipes to make an appearance later this week}

This might actually be vegan chili...
Once Andrea and Kyle came over, we watched some of the Olympic trials the Grammys, started up a game of Cards Against Humanity while enjoying some Magic Hats and Peyton played with a ball.

Our guests left around 8:00. We cleaned up, caught the latest episode of Downton, took Peyton for a nice walk and called it a night.

I woke up this morning feeling amazingly well rested after a great weekend, headed to PT and then to the office. I've got a busy week ahead, but I'm planning to make it fun!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
