Yesterday, I got up bright and early to catch a bit of the Olympic marathon before heading out for a 14 mile run of my own. I hadn't had a run like that in months and I basically spent the rest of the day vegging out on the couch trying to recover.
The rest of the weekend was pretty good though! Friday morning, I made my way to the airport to head to DC and then ended up not going after I found out the meeting I was going to was postponed...about 10 minutes before my flight boarded, thank goodness! So I made my way home, went for a run, ran some errands and spent the afternoon baking a blueberry-peach cobbler for a party the next day.

Saturday morning, I headed out for an easy 3 miles before going to a yoga class at the new studio I joined. The one thing I love about this studio is that every class is different and since I rarely check the schedule of what type of yoga I'm going to, I'm always in for a surprise.
Saturday's yoga was yoga nidra which means yogic sleep. I had been hoping for a bit more of an active class to really stretch out my muscles since they've been a bit tighter than normal this week and I was quite surprised to find that there is actually a type of yoga where you lay in savasana the entire time.

I enjoyed the class for the first 20 minutes...and then my mind went all Elizabeth Gilbert in Eat, Pray Love and I started thinking about what to wear to the party later and where I was going to run the 14 miles I was supposed to run the next day and so on and so on and so forth. I'd definitely try it again but maybe after a long run when I need to kind of zone out.
After yoga, I went home and got ready for The Pilot's sister's birthday/engagement party. She was in town from Atlanta and it was great to see her and her fiancee! The party was a low key but lots of fun and I got a chance to try on a few different bridesmaids dresses that his sister had picked out since I'm in the wedding!

After everyone left, we all vegged out and watched "License to Wed" (a must for anyone getting married...especially if you're Catholic!) before tuning into the Olympics and calling it a night.
Later today, I'm off to Atlantic City with my mom for some R&R! I can't wait to sit poolside, run on the boardwalk and shop the outlets!
How was your weekend? Have you tried yoga nidra? Any weddings coming up in your future?

I need to go home tonight and put in a yogo video and just take 30 minutes to myself!!! That looks great. Erica

My weekend was low key and relaxing - love it! The best part of my weekend was to welcome my friend at the airport after she spent 2 years in Nairobi.
