I haven't woken up earlier than 11:45 in 4 days.
You can thank the narcotics for that. Doc put me on 3 different kinds of pain meds for my back and they have all left me craving sleep.
It's been pretty fantastic. Surprisingly, despite my drug-induced stupor, I've been really productive and gotten a lot of thesis work done. For once, my thesis is finally starting to take form instead of looking like 84 different documents all piled into a Word folder called "Thesis."
You should see my floor. And my couch. Books everywhere. I've practically emptied the NYU Library into my apartment.
I am going to need a massive suitcase to return all of those books when I finally finish my thesis.
Anyway, while I have been insanely productive in regards to my sleeping and thesis-writing habits, running has definitely taken a back seat due to this back injury. I've technically only missed 2 workouts but with the marathon 3 weeks away, it's making me all kinds of jittery.
This morning, I felt like going for a run. My back was feeling pretty good and I'm antsy to just get out there, but I've put on my Smart Christy hat and decided to take the day off and get out there tomorrow when I'm feeling 100% better instead of just 85%. In the mean time, I'm ignoring the fact that I'm supposed to run a marathon in 3 weeks and don't at all feel ready. I've trained hard for this race but mentally, my brain is mush. I seriously need to do some mental preparation if I'm going to run a strong race.
On top of all this, I'm job hunting. To say I have a lot on my plate would be an understatement. But I'm handling it and I'm actually kind of enjoying the thesis-writing process. I just hope my thesis gets me somewhere. One of the jobs I applied to is very closely related to the topic I'm writing on so we'll see.
But none of this matters because tomorrow begins the most wonderful time of the year.

The Mets are probably going to suck this year, but I'm totally ok with it.
